Welcome

Hello and welcome to Have the Cake. Every month we pick one recipe for a cake, cookie, cracker, pie, bar, biscuit or brownie. Everyone can make it as is or put their own spin on it. You have the whole month to complete it and when you are done, post the results and anything else you'd like to add about your baking experience on your blog and right here! Each participant gets to pick a recipe for an assigned month. It should be something you've never made before. You don't have to have a blog to participate. You can post directly to this blog!

You have the whole month and if you can't get to it, no worries. The cake police won't come to your door. The idea is to have fun in the kitchen and bake something new.

If you'd like to join our baking crew, please leave us a comment on this post with your blog domain or the name you'd like posted on this blog. The August recipe will be posted on August 1st.

I'm still worried about the effects on my waistline, but I'm really excited about this nonetheless. Great idea! Thank you for getting it started!

Oh, I'm totally in. What? Fit into a wedding gown in October? That's so overrated.

Yay! Welcome Michelle :)

I'm more worried about converting the recipes for the altitude than about my waistline (thanks baby!), but I'm looking forward to giving this a go. :)

I'm worried about experimenting in the kitchen. It never ends well for me, but I'm definitely excited about this!

Let's just hope this stuff freezes well, so I can spread out the love over a loooong period and not end up back in my fat jeans!! :)

I have no weddings or special functions for which I need to fit into anything for a long time! Bring on the sugar!

Rena: Thanks for setting this up. I've wanted to use the Kitchenaid mixer more - so this is a perfect excuse! I see I've assigned May -- my birthday month!

I am so glad that I fell upon this site. I am not sure how I got here but here I am and I want to join. I love the one month commitments because I can handle them.

I am sorry I missed the beginning but I do want to join now. This is a great idea.

The carrot cakes look delicious. I want to compare them to my own and see if I can try a new one. Carrot cake is so moist and yummy.

Thanks for doing this.

I have two blogs; one is gluten free. I may want to put in both a GR recipe and the "real" recipe, one from each.
